Dear Friends: Christmas and New Years are the times of the year when people cele brate and enjoy themselves and renew the bond of friendship which exists between them. This year, unfortunately, due to the disturbance which exists all over the world, none of us can be as happy as we would like to be. The world situation has put a great damper on our happiness. We must, however, make a resolution tnat with unending efforts we will support our administration in Washington so as to help tind a way by whicn peace, which all of us hope and pray for, will come our way quicker than we anticipated. The situation is serious but not hopeless. We must meet the issue but it needs the help of everybody. We, living here in the United States, have been very fortunate in hav ing been spared the destruction of warfare. We have sacrificed, unfortunate ly, the lives of many of our brave and courageous boys who have suffered more than one can describe. Their sacrifices, however, must not be in vain. Every effort must be made to make recurrences of international difficulties impossible no matter how great the sacrifice is. We here, living in peaceful Transylvania County, have lots to be grate ful for. Do not let us forget the blessings which have been bestowed upon us, but let us resolve that, same as in the past, all of us will work alongside each other in friendship and harmony for the purpose of further developing the Ecusta family. Unfortunately, I have been deprived of appearing among you during the past year, due to the fact that I have been confined to my home; how ever, I am happy to tell you that the state of my health is such that right after the first of the year I will resume my normal activities in behalf of all of you. Same as in the past, I will continue to make it my effort to see to it that all of us within the gates of Ecusta work to achieve happiness, comfort and prosperity. I hope that all of you will celebrate a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, in the midst of your family, and that many more such celebra tions are in store for you. 'Let us all bow our heads in prayer and ask The Almighty to establish peace and tranquility in this world and that warfare and misunderstandings between nations and people will be banished forever.
