name. If Footsie doesn’t stand out in those shoes
now, he never will.
Walter Straus was awarded a loving cup, which
glistened so bright it wouldn’t register on film
for the photographer. This was presented to Wal
ter for his achievements as business manager of
the Champagne team.
One of the umpires, we won’t mention his name
here, was presented a pair of glasses with instruc
tions to have them changed every three months.
Hugh Bradburn was awarded a new baseball, to
play with all by himself. Hugh was commended
highly for his fine work in serving as the league’s
prexy for his third season.
Since nobody carries chawing tobacco to a ban

Alexander had to be content with a can of smok
ing tobacco.
Mr. Bauer introduced the guests of the evening,
Messrs. Harry H. Straus, Jr., Robert G. Deyton,
Raymond F. Bennett and E. B. Garrett. Mr. N. H.
Collisson could not be present due to other com

These men were high in their praise of our

ployer-employee relationships.
Mr. Straus made the trophy awards to the
Championship teams and leading batters of the

Iowa, studying the process of making cellophane.

banquet. However, we look forward to their re
turn and being with us when future banquets are

EMORY AND POOR LEAD BOWLERS
John Emory is currently leading the depart
mental bowling league with an individual of 175
pins per game. John is fighting to regain the
league’s highest individual crown which he held
in 1948, and lost to Bruce Reynolds last season.
John, a member of our Ecusta team, is also one
of the top bowlers of the WNC Ten Pin League.
L. C. Poor also one of the top bowlers of our
league, at this writing is tied for second place
with Harvey Souther, in the individual average
race of the league. Although, Bruce Reynolds
and Walter Green are close behind and the out
come is unpredictable, these four men will have
to do some fancy bowling to catch up with Emory
barring any mishaps to Emory’s bowling in the
next six weeks.
