has been working for several weeks at the Per sonnel Office prior to moving to the Cellophane division. Glad to have had you with us, Sara. Ellen McFarland vacationed recently in the Piedmont section of the state, visiting both High Point and Durham. How are things over that way? Gene and Virginia Stepp spent their vacation at the old favorite spot—^Myrtle Beach, S. C. The sun tans look becoming. Alas! but they fade much too quickly! Members of the Personnel Department held a picnic at Camp Harry H. Straus. A good time was had by all—nuff said! To talk about picnics makes me want to go to one also. F. S. (Buck) Best visited his old home town, Dunn, North Carolina. It had been a long time since his last visit and he enjoyed it a lot. Things are happening so fast and of such varied natures that it is hard to keep up with it all. We hope that nobody has been overlooked. After all, sitting at a desk does not allow for roaming around to get all the news. We would like for you to come around and tell us the things of interest which happen to you. In the meantime, drive safely and enjoy that car of yours. BREVARD was named in honor of Col. Eph- ram Brevard, a Revolutionary War hero from North Carolina and one of the signers of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. Pictured here are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Teague. The little girls are, left to right: Vivian Marie, age 10, Patricia Joy, age 6, and Treva Almeda, age 9. The little fellow celebrating his second birthday is Robert J. Teague. Their father is employed in the Machine Room. Shown above is Randall Hoytte Hampton, 11 months old son of Air. and Mrs. Hoyt Hampton. Randall’s father works in the Machine Room. REFINING By Jack Rhodes Recent vacationeers in the Refining Room include: Henry Holliday, Ed Brackett, Allen Kimsey, Charlie Ashe, Clifford Gillespie, Lawson Moore, Jimmy Sledge, Roy Fisher "Shorty” McClung and Clarence Israel. Jimmy Sledge and the Missus, took off to Flor ida and had a very nice trip. Jimmy reported al most daily by post-card. (Boy, what post-cards). Harold Hogsed has recently started work in the Beater Room. Hope you like it, Hal. "Speedy’" Jones is in the market for a cow. Don’t want the crippling kind like "Hop-a-long” Stroup had, to put him on crutches. Understand J. L. Bryson is growing some big cabbages. Also Ralph Nicholson is hauling lots of beef on his pick-up. The boys on "C” Shift are hoping they will get together and treat to a corned-beef and cabbage supper. Clarence and Walt Nicholson’s father had the misfortune to fall and break his back. We hope that it won’t be long before he is out again. Huff Hooper is getting along all right with the boys, since he found out that it doesn’t take near as much water to make coffee like he had been making. Frank Patton is sporting a new Old’s 88. The other one wasn’t big enough so he bought a four- door. Guy Emerson and Yours Truly have tried Camp Harry Straus for fish and came away with our limit of bream. Evidently, crappie and bass have heard of Guy’s other big catches and stay hid. 27
