GUMMING AND REAMING By Mitch Taylor We would like to welcome several new men to our de partment. They are: Floyd El lis, Ballard Smith, Adrian Bryson, Earl Bradford, Ben nett Jones, Benjamin McCall, William Tolley, Ernest Pow ell, Paul Nicholson and Leon ard Jones. Julius Nicholson took a recent vacation to be with his new daughter. Tulen Israel spent her vacation at Fontana. Hear the boat ride frightened her so bad she didn’t catch "many” fish. Babe Norton is sporting a new Chevrolet these days. How about a ride, "Criter.” We hear Jim Holden is at the firing range prac ticing for his "turkle” hunt. We were sorry to hear of Bennett Jones’ brother being seriously injured in a car wreck in South Carolina. We wish a speedy recovery to Mrs. Adison Bryson who has been ill. We are glad to have the boys from the Printing Department with us. Goode Loftis’ son, Bobby, who attends Wake Forest College is home for the summer. So is Eric Neuman’s son, Alfred, who graduated from Davidson recently. George Wheeler, who has been ill, is back at work. No wonder, the speedy recovery. Sunday is that big wedding day. We wonder why Floyd Ellis is all smiles these days? Could it be a certain girl is back from Texas? Those interested in singing lessons, see Paul Jackson. I hear he attends all the big singings held at the City Auditorium. Nice going to the Champagne Cardinal baseball team. Keep the good work up boys. Just around the corner is the big annual Ecusta picnic being held at Camp Straus, July 4th. See you at the picnic. Armelia Vanghn, an honor graduate of Edney- ville High, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cray ton Vaughn of Route No. 1, Hendersonville. Mr. Vaughn is employed in the Finishing Department. Above is Janice Myra Crane, 10 months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Quentin Crane of Bre vard. Her grandfather, William Clampitt is em ployed in the Finishing Department. CAFETERIA AND CANTEEN By Anne Kitchen Those taking vacations from our Department are Vance Cagle, Glenn Newton, Fred Sherman, Floyd Taylor, Arnold Auders and Walter Perkins. We welcome to our de partment the following boys to help feed the people in cellophane cafeteria which opened June 8th: Doyle Gillespie, Joyce Bowen, Donald Mullinax, Robert Loftis, Joseph McGuire, Jr., Robert Morris, Roger Nix, Billie Gardner and Don Lance. Donald Mullinax and Margaret Pace were unit ed in matrimony at the home of Rev. Virgil Jones at Hendersonville on June 2, 1951. We wish for them a happy and prosperous life. We extend to Johnny Bradley’s family our sympathy in the loss of Johnny’s father-in-law. 29
