Thirty members of the "A” Band, eighteen members of the "B” Band, ten members of the "C” Band, and 75 students of the Choral School were presented certificates by Mr. Philip C. Brownell on July 6th. During the one month period instructions were given in solo, sight reading, harmony, and theory, and classes were held in group and sectional sing ing. The instructors were John Eversman, Lucille Heffner, and Charles Glass of the Recreation de partment; Lorraine Parris, Director of Music in BAND CAMP AND CHORAL SCHDDL the city schools of Newberry, South Carolina; Colonel E. B. Cans, U. S. Army, retired; and Vir ginia Thompson, Music Director of Valley Springs school and former member of the Ecusta Band. Each year the company sponsors the Band Camp and Choral School for one month during the sum mer. Instructions, instruments and transportation are furnished free to the students.
