With Ecusta Paper Corporation acting as host
to the above group on September 12 th, these So
ciety members and visitors had somewhat of a full
day here in the hills. The program consisted of a
guided tour through the Paper Division, luncheon
at the cafeteria, a guided tour through the Cello
phane Division and the Medical Center, and a
business session at the cafeteria from four to five
during the afternoon.
In welcoming the group to Ecusta, Mr. L. F.
Dixon who is General Manager of Ecusta Paper
Division, paid tribute to the work that was being
done throughout the State by the Society, and
pledged his support in their program for further
ing the crusade against accidents. The response
was made by Tarvia Jones, who in behalf of the
Society, expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Dixon
for the wonderful hospitality being extended the
group. Included at the luncheon as guests, were
the members of the General Safety Committee of
the Paper Division, who were recognized by H. E.
Newbury for the important part that each of them
were taking in the local accident prevention pro
gram.
At the business session, Tarvia Jones spoke to
the group about the numerous needless traffic
fatalities occurring throughout the State, and
stressed the fact that the users of motor vehicles
should concentrate more on "defensive driving”.
The members of the Society pledged their sup
port in carrying on a well balanced program for
the prevention of accidents not only in industry,
but at home, in the community and on the high
ways.
