FREEDOM AND SECURITY
We follow two great impulses—to be politically
free and economically secure. Dictators promise
security if the people will give up freedom, but
in American we have won freedom the hard way
and we intend to keep our freedom. We are win
ning our economic security, but experience shows
that freedom and economic security must grow
together. The history of the United States prove
that.
Today the American way of life provides the
highest standard of living ever enjoyed by any
people in history. The American standard of liv
ing is about ten times higher than that of Soviet
Russia, where there is no individual freedom.
This is no mere boast. It is a statement of fact.
We in America have raised our standard of living
because we have been free to do it.
Freedom to worship in the church of our choice.
