"C" SHIFT COATING By John Baldwin and John D. Smith Well here we are back on the line again with some chatter. We want to welcome the little stranger and congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Joe Black on the arrival of a son, Audrian Keith on October 25th. Joe sure is a proud papa. Paul Ledbetter said he caught Joe the other day with his head in an empty barrel shouting Daddy just to see how it would sound. Don’t rush things Joe, he will say Daddy when he is old enough. Don Hare is in the market for a good tire pump. Someone has been letting the air out of his tires. Hovey Waldrop employed Dave Blackwell and some other men to help de-horn his cow the other day. After the operation was completed the cow seemed to be doing nicely. However, all at once she looked up at Hovey and gave forth with a pitiful Moo. Hovey stood there with tears in his eyes and said "Don’t look at me. I didn’t do it.” Jack (no-brake) Mackey is wondering how to get out of the dog house. Don’t worry Jack, Christmas is just around the corner and you can get out then—doesn’t everyone.^ Doyle Baynard, in addition to being a good re wind operator and a good fellow to push you off if your car won’t start, is also a ladies man. I saw him seven times last week and each time he had SIXTH ANNUAL FOOTBALL TRIP (Continued from page 12) joyment and it is your privilege to take advan tage of them. Boy, it must be nice to be single—but then that Mercury might have something to do with it. Ain’t no telling. John Baldwin, who says he is a good party man needs to change his politics. He says Church ill is a Republican. Everyone knows that Church ill is a Democrat. John says that some of the fellows from Clinton are asking,“Where is the Sunny South?” "I assure you fellows,” says John, "that this weather is very unusual for good old North Carolina. That’s what I was told last winter at Clinton where it was 27 below.” Florida is a nice place to go on five days off. I tried it last month, had a nice time, saw several interesting things, went swimming in the Gulf, and many more things that I can’t mention. We ate too many pecans in South Georgia, though, and got sick. However, it was still nice. So long until next month. TV Viewing Aid—Television viewing will be more pleasant and comfortable with a new de velopment called "Halolight,” which tends to re duce the contrast between the bright TV screen and the dark surrounding area. Around the screen is an illuminated frame, the brightness of which can be adjusted for viewing in varying degrees of room light. 26
