Rangers, in strategically placed towers, maintain a constant looko^U for fires. Ravaging forest fires, similar to the one pictured on the right, not only destroy valuable timber, but wreak havoc ivith clear mountain streams and wildlife. Deer cannot thrive in burned-over areas. Green forests give them good food and shelter. END
