DEPARTMENTAL NEWS
CELLOPHANE DIVISION
POWER
By Howell Medford
We of the Power depart
ment are in the midst of
three factors. This is the
season when one’s mind eith
er turns to gardening, vaca
tions or fishing. All are off
to a flying start. All the boys
boast of the fine garden al
ready planted.
Chan Ashworth just about clinched the prize
for the largest bass. He caught a 10% pounder
in Lake Lure. Perhaps most of us already saw the
fish or the picture. The fish was 27 inches long
and 20 inches around. All we can say is, Chan
how did you do it? We do offer congratulations.
May as well pay off boys.
As this is written "Pete” Norwood is on va
cation. We do not know where he is going, but
"Pete” is a traveler so we know he is gone. We
will find out when he returns.
Virgil Galloway is on vacation and says he will
spend it all on the new house he is building.
Jim Connell spent his vacation getting all set
with the garden. He says he plants a big one
every year. He wanted to slip out for a few fish
but Mrs. Connell says, "On with the garden Jim
and fish while it comes up.”
Sam Rose spent his vacation on the home and
practically all on the basement. Sam put in a
drainage system which came in very good since
all the heavy spring rains. Seems as if lots of fel
lows are thinking of security for later. This is a
good investment.
We were sorry to learn that Bill Lyday’s moth
er has been very ill. We all hope she is much im
proved by now.
"Dutch” Burner has gone in the boat business.
He bought a boat and plans to run excursions
from Rosman to Frozen Creek. We wonder if he
will have passengers, fish, or what. He says the
boat is really too big. Dutch will be the Captain
we are sure of that much.
Bob Duckworth tells us that Foy Guice already
started putting the pressure on him about the way
he fishes. He almost blamed Bob for Chan catch
ing the big bass. Eben Morrow says these boys
fish him plumb out of the meter shop.
Lewis Alexander is looking forward to mov
ing in the new office. We know Mr. Finck and
his staff will be happy to have once and for all
permanent headquarters. The new office will be
an annex to the Turbine Room.
MAINTENANCE
By George Ryder
Over thirty Maintenance
men have taken their vaca- -
tions since the last writing.
There are too many to go in
to detail about each, but here
are a few. Jim Allison and
Don Scruggs took an ex
tended trip through Florida.
Richard Parris, Evan Bacon and Norvell Single
ton did a little building at home. Jimmy Geve-
don helped care for his wife and their new child
(Congratulations, Jimmy!). "Sinbad” Siniard
used his vacation to open his drive in theater
("The Star Drive-In”).
We were all very sorry to learn that Nick
Feagon’s wife is ill. We hope that she is well
soon. We wish to extend our sympathy to Ralph
Baumgarner whose mother died in early April.
Johnny Michael, an employee in service, sur
prised us all with a visit in early April. Johnny
looked fine and even had a California sun tan. He
is now stationed in San Diego. Come back to see
us again Johnny.

Miss Morrow’s maid of honor will be her sister.

Upon their return to Brevard the couple will re

A belated acknowledgement to James Winget
who assumed the position of laboratory foreman
