BERKELEY WINS 1952 CROWN Ecusfa Finishes Fourth The Berkeley Spinners of Berkeley Mills, Inc., copped the 1952 Western North Carolina Indus trial League Baseball Crown with a record of 34 wins and 5 losses. The Beacon Blanketeers, de fending champions finished in second place with a record of 24 wins and 13 losses. The Enka Rayonites finished in third place with a record of 21 wins and 18 losses and our Ecusta team finished fourth with a record of 19 wins and 19 losses. Straus Memorial Trophy with a record of nine wins and three losses for the season. The Paper Converting team, man aged by Troy Drake finished in second place with a record of eight wins and four losses. The Paper Manufacturing team defending champion, under the leadership of Wilson Gregory finished in third place with a record of five wins and six losses. Cellophane Maintenance finished in the cellar with a record of one win and ten losses. The leagues post season play-off series is sched uled for August 28, 29 and 30, with Paper Con verting and Cellophane Maintenance meeting each other on the 28th and Cellophane Operations play ing Paper Manufacturing on the 29th. The win ners will meet on Saturday August 30, to decide the league’s play-off Champion. In 1896 Ed. Delehanty hit four home runs in one game and was given four boxes of chewing gum as a prize.
