DEPARTMENTAL NEWS
CELLOPHANE DIVISION
SHEETING AND SHIPPING
By Callie Talley
The time of year has come
when maybe we can put our
minds to thinking of some
thing besides the heat, putting
in the winter’s fuel, kids go
ing back to school and the
fellows talking of squirrel
hunting.
Welcome to our department Charles Ledbetter
and Joe Sigmon. Joe is our new service operator
and Charles is operating the baler. We’ve also
had James Bumgarner borrowed from slitting
quite a while.
If anyone has any waxing to do they should
see Ray Keener and Eugene Glenn for their meth
od. Their film table would be the envy of any
housewife.
Our hat is off to the Trailways bus driver
who took us to see "Unto These Hills”. We were
riding along thoroughly enjoying ourselves until
we became stuck on a fill near Waynesville, but
thanks to the skill of the driver we arrived safely
and in time for the beginning of the drama. Let
me say here to those who’ve not seen the drama
that it is well worth anyone’s time and money to
see it. It’s most amazing—the lighting, costumes,
and changing of scenery (all done in the dark).
James and Glenn say they use more chipboards
at the cutter since Ray began figuring to buy a
house.
Waddell said the reason for his new style hair
cut was that he was planning to spend a while in
Atlanta.
We know from Cecil’s actions that he enjoys
operating the drums. When he operates the reject
slit-roll drum, you very often see him clapping his
hands. To show off his new gloves I suppose.
When he’s on the big drum he sounds like a canary
all day.
We wonder why Lewis Meece didn’t mention
having a new Chevy And when we found out
and said something about it—he said "Why, it’s
over a month old”?
It’s good to see Agnes back after her stay in the
hospital. At present Lorena is in the hospital.
Hurry back Lorena. "Becky” has been on the sick
list too.
James McCall is back from two weeks reserve
training—and are Cecil and Waddell glad?
Thanks to Willoree and Grady Carland for the
nice candy and cigars. They have a little girl, Lin
da Gale, born August 1. Linda weighed 5 lbs. 14
02. Willoree is a former member of "our gang”.
Giles Moore reports a nice trip through the
Smokies with his family.
There must be a Buick Clinic in Henderson
ville on Saturdays as Ralph, Ulyes, Ellis and Joe
were all seen at Thomas Buick one Saturday re
cently.
J. L. Edwards was on the absentee list recently
when his father was ill in the hospital. J. L. is
back and reports his father much improved.
James has snapped the bolts in the drum again.
Seems to me that maintenance should make up a
supply to keep in stock.
Another new man has joined our gang—Eu
gene Watson. He’s operating the baler on the
evening shift.
"K“ SHIFT FINISHING
By Hayne C. Arthur, Jr.
Well, we are off to the races again with the
news.
First, congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
H. Mann on the birth of their daughter Anita
Darleen. She was born on July 27th and weighed
pounds.
We hope that Van O’Kelley’s wife is well and
back on the job after a stay in the hospital.
There have been some changes made on the
team. Bill Stroup is checking charts again, Fred
rick Warren is the new service operator, Robert
Hughey is spotter and James Addcock and James
Bumgardner are in Wrap and Pack.
Bill Stroup has two Airdale pups that seem
destined to make bear dogs, that is if they live to
be grown dogs. To hear Bill tell it they are al
ready fighting to kill.
Hoot Allison is training his Beagle pups to run
rabbits. Hoot really likes rabbit and is going to
be sure he has a means of getting it.
I don’t know what Bill Stroup has on J. B.
Holden, but I heard J. B. calling him Mister Stroup
one morning not so long ago.
Charles Aiken is sealing his house on the in
side. He wants to show it to all his friends. Good
luck, Charles.
That is all for now. See you next month.
