Above is little Miss Dorothy Virginia Bangs, the four year-old datighter of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Bangs. Bill is employed in the Cafeteria. RESEARCH By Hilda Hunnicutt We are glad to welcome back all those unfortunate people who had "the flu”. Sorry to report that at this writing Harry Kilman is back in the hospital. We wish you a speedy recovery, Harry. We extend a hearty wel come to Freddie Norris who is working with the office staff. Freddie hails from Asheville, but is in the process of moving to Brevard right now. Hope you will enjoy working with us. We were sorry to lose Jim Harrison, who found it necessary to leave because of illness; but wel come Troy Zachary who is taking Jim s place. Gus Grose has been to Key West and Miami on a Navy Cruise. All he had to say was that he got sea-sick. If his "dahling ’ could have gone with him, the cruise would probably have been more enjoyable. By the way, Gus new rank in the Navy is hospitalman, 3rd Class—Congratulations! Congratulations are also in order for Lt. Com mander Charles Glazener who has been selected to be the new commanding officer of the Naval Reserve Surface Division 617 in Asheville. He will hold this office for three years. We were all very sorry to hear of the very un fortunate accident involving Pete Muffat and a truck. Glad to report that Pete is at home now and getting along O.K. He wrote us a letter with portions of it addressed to certain individuals. Since we enjoyed it so much over here, I think others would also enjoy reading excerpts of it. This young fellow is Clinton D. Owen, the eight- year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ford Owen of Lake Toxaway. Ford is in the Electro-Chemical Dept. I quote as follows: "Dear Jim (Brennan)—I am back home again, but still in a wheelchair since my ribs have not healed enough for me to walk on crutches much. I try it from time to time but it does not feel so good. I thought I had an ex cellent idea but Carol vetoed it; my idea was that I would spend the next few weeks in bed to let the ribs heal; I was going to invite you over for that time, we could both pass the time talking about when we were young. For the first time have I become acquainted with the radio pro grams, both day and nite; I listen to everything from Arthur Godfrey to Fibber and Molly, soap opera excepted.” In Pete’s note to Dorothy John son, he told about the wonderful features of St. Joseph’s. Pete wrote, "Only in one way does St. Joseph’s resemble other hospitals—penicillin is administered through a Va inch waterpipe, driven home with a wooden mallet.” To Lloyd Harris, he wrote the following, "Would you like to buy a nice 1951 Ford?” We all miss you Pete, and hope that you’ll be back with us soon. Dan Wallen and Ed Hill have bought television sets for their families. Main reason was probably the "Wednesday-nite-fights.” The next production of the Brevard Little Theater will be "Laura” which is to be staged on February 27 and 28. Our "researchers” — namely, Gunther Baldauf, who is chairman of the stage committee, Charlie Norlander, the Publicity chairman, Thelma Glazener, the program chair man, and Gus Grose, chairman of the casting committee, have really been working hard on it and also the following production which is en titled "Little Scandal”. Hope everyone will make 20
