Another of the Rosman
chapter’s projects is the
decorating of the school
lunchroom for special
occasions such as Hal
loween, Thanksgiving,
Christmas, Valentine’s
Day, Wash in gt on’s
Birthday, etc. Here
some of the Future
Homemakers move
down school’s Cafeteria
line where they’ll be
served a balanced meal
\
ments.
Of the many worthwhile projects which are
undertaken by the Rosman Future Homemakers,
probably the most outstanding is that of collecting
old items of clothing and remaking them into
usable wearing apparel for needy children. An
other of their noteworthy projects is the decorat
ing of the school lunchroom for special occasions.
A sample of this could be seen last December
when they decorated the lunch room in a Christ
mas motif, complete with a record player and
Christmas music.
The Rosman group will be host chapter for the
Sub-District Rally in April. Eleven chapters in
Polk, Henderson and Transylvania counties make
up this sub-district—a division of the 21-county
Western District. The Rosman chapter was hon
ored last October at the District meeting held in
Clyde, N. C., and attended by approximately 1,000
delegates when one of its members was elected
District President. She is Miss Louetta Hooper,
16-year-old daughter of Paul Hooper, employee
of Ecusta’s Cellophane Division (Chemical and
Casting Section). Five girls from the Rosman
chapter will attend the State Convention in Ra
leigh this Spring—a gathering which was attend
ed by over 4,000 delegates last year.
The aims and ideals of the Future Homemakers
of America are symbolized in their emblem. The
name. Future Homemakers of America, appears
around the top of the octagonal plane, forming the
upper part of the border of the emblem. It serves
as a reminder of their future responsibilities and
the many privileges that are theirs as future home
makers.
The motto, Toward New Horizons, completes
the border. It exprpesses the purposes of the or
ganization learning to live better today in order
that their lives and those of their families may
be better tomorrow.
In the center is a house, typifying not the
dwelling alone, but all that the home should be.
Supporting the home are two hands, symbolizing
that the future homes of America are in the hands
of its youth.
The lines radiating from the house exemplify
the influence that flows from within the home
outward into the community, and from there, to
all parts of the world. The eight sides serve as re
minders of the eight goals of the Future Home
makers.
That the Future Homemakers of America,
whether on a local, state or national scale, plays
an important role in the building of tomorrow’s
hemes cannot be denied. The FHA, in bringing
together state groups interested in and working
toward better home and family living, provides
untold opportunities to share in solving the prob
lems’ so important to home life. It is increasing
the opportunities for development of leadership
and intelligent participation in home life so much
needed in our life today.
