SHEETING & SHIPPING By Gallic Talley "A” SHIFT COATING By Lonnie Jones It sure is hard to come in side to work on these beauti ful spring days. Sometimes we wish we worked shifts so we could enjoy more of the daylight hours. Our sympathy to Mr. Ben nett, Floyd Myers and Lo- rena O’Kelley on their recent bereavements. What’s this we hear about Wilmer McGee working extra on the baler? Was he looking for a lost check? We wish to welcome two new employees this month, Dick Bryant and J. M. Taylor. Hope you like working with us, fellows. Jim Gase and Bobby Marshall have been trans- ferred to slitting. Willie came in after vacation brown as a berry. It’s easy to see she had been to the beach. James McGall was also on vacation, but he said he worked all week. Lewis has had another wreck. Must be some- thing about spring. Remember he had one last year about this time. He didn’t escape as lightly this time—he has a broken arm. Thanks to Ray Keener we’ve seen and tasted ramps. They’re good. Becks says she’s going to get Ellis a rubber hammer to use when he makes packing cases. We’re glad to have Ruby back. She’s been help ing out in the lab most of this month. We can’t understand why Willie loses so many pencils. Ken isn’t in school yet. Gecil McMinn and Ellis Revis are all excited about their new homes. Gecil has bought one and Ellis is building one. Gongratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Owen. They have a new son named Johnny Ray. Let’s hope he doesn’t do much of that for which the singer of the same name is noted for. Tommie, don’t you think it’s kinda cool for swimming? Tommie and Bob went fishing and Tommie pushed Bob but Tommie was the one who got wet. TEN-YEAR CLUB The following employees became eligible for the Ten Year Glub during the month of April 1953: name department Willa Faye B. Foster .... Technical-Gellophane Div, William Edward Kilpatrick Machine Room Sadie S. Price Finishing-Paper Div. Reuben M. Dalton Finishing-Paper Div. A smile goes a long way, but you’re the one who must start it on its journey.—Grit. Here it is Echo time again. The biggest event of the past month was the chicken fry held at Gamp Straus for Goating, Ghemical & Gasting. A fine time was had by all, and the chicken that Henry Whitmire and Bly Rogers prepared seems to get better with each party we have. I know all the boys join in with me to give thern a vote of thanks. The entertainment was furnished by Melvin Atkinson. He can dance about the best of anyone I have ever seen. Monroe McGall has returned from his vacation with some good fish tales. On one trip he went, he caught ten rainbow trout, and they all aver aged over twelve inches, but big fish is not all Monroe catches. He told me he went out the other night to catch some night crawlers. He caught one about two feet long, and half as big as your arm is around. He said he used that one crawler all day, by just cutting pieces off of it to bait his hook. If anyone has any plastic tile to install in their kitchen or bathroom get in touch with David Sams. He is quite an expert on installing tile. He has just finished his bathroom, and can tell you what and what not to do. Gordon Hollingsworth leaves on his vacation the eleventh. He said he had planned to go to Florida, for a week, but there was so much work to do in his garden, and around the house that he doubted if he even got to go on a picnic. Gor don, you know how I feel now. That s about all for this time. See you next month. SHIFT COATING By Henry Bell and Jim Silver To begin with, we are very sorry the Echo news didn’t get in last month, but we’ll make up for it this month. ^J(^e would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Reid who has a new baby girl at their home. Boy, take it from me, Marv, it sure helps that old income tax de duction. D. S. Winchester just got back from his vaca tion in Florida and says he had a wonderful time there—after he painted his house here, that is. 26
