d PICTURES ... dilly Stamey of the Finishing Department of the Ecusta Paper Division was voted "Square Dance Queen” at the annual V. F. W. Folk Festival at Canton in July. The Ecusta square dance team won the first night, but lost out in the finals. Avie C. Reece (right) of John W. Bolton & Sons, Inc., Lawrence, Mass., i: shown presenting W. E. "Bill” Ryon, Jr., a check for $100.00. Bill won the 1955 Bolton Aw ard in the Southeastern division of North American pulp and paper mills. The award is made each year to the person writing the best essay on a given subject in each of the ten divisions. This contest is conducted under the auspices of the American Pulp & Paper Mill Superintendents As sociation. John Love, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Love of Horse Shoe, is shown with the sportsmanship trophy awarded ^each year by the Hedrick-Rhodes Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to a Hen derson County athlete. John was a member of the Etowah High School basketball team, won the Western North Carolina Class A champion ship. He made the all-district team as a forward. Shown in his right hand are basketballs and medals that he won last year, which include the History Medal, French Medal, Mathematics Medal, Valedictorian Medal, and Etowah High and Hen dersonville County gold basketballs. John will enter college this fall, and plans to major in Chemistry. His father is employed in the Con trol Department of the Ecusta Paper Division.
