HAROLD F. MOSES IS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF INTERSTATE NATURAL GAS COMPANY John M. Olin, President of Olin Industries, Inc., announced this month that Harold F. Moses has been elected President of Interstate Natural Gas Company of Monroe, La., and General Manager of Olin’s newly created Oil and Gas Division. Mr. Moses has resigned as Director and Vice President in charge of exploration and research of Carter Oil Company of Tulsa, Okla., to accept his new position with Olin. Mr. Moses has been closely associated with the oil and gas industry since his graduation from the University of Chicago in 1923. After work with the U. S. Geological Survey, he taught geology at the University of Oklahoma. In 1925 he joined Henry L. Doherty and Company, New York City, and for nine years engaged in geological explora tion in South and Central America culminating in 1933 as General Manager of their Mexican operations. The following year he accepted an assignment with the Turkish Government to re view that country’s petroleum resources. Since 1935 Mr. Moses has been with the Carter Oil Company. Carter is a producing oil company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. The Standard Oil Company of New Jersey re cently sold its 54 percent controlling interest in Interstate to Olin which now owns 98 percent of Interstate stock. John Taylor, former W ester n-W inch ester sales representative and one of the best known figures in the trapshooting field, attended his fiftieth Harold F. Moses vides Olin with a facility for the aggressive ex ploration and development of its mineral rights on timberlands now owned by the Company in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas as well as in other areas. It is contemplated that Interstate under the leadership of Mr. Moses will conduct a substan tia] exploration and development program. Mr. Olin announced at the same time that George A. Wilson, formerly President, was elect ed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Inter state. Mr. Wilson has been with Interstate for many years, during which time the company, from a small beginning, has grown to a system com prising over 970 miles of pipe lines.
