"PAPER DIViSlON' IHATS OFF TO MAINTENANCE... 1,000 DAYS WITHOUT A LOST TIME ACCIDENT 228 DAYS ' 1,569,530 HOURS SINCE OUR LAST LOST TIME ACCIDENT GENERAL MAINTENANCE SETS NEW SAFETY RECORD The General Maintenance Department of Ecus- ta Paper Division set a new safety record for the department at midnight on August 18, with 1000 days without a lost time accident. This represents one million man-hours, and almost doubled the previous record set between September 9, 1944 and June 14, 1946. The entire department celebrated the occasion with a chicken dinner in the Transportation build ing on August 19. This was by no means a record for the plant since there are other departments with longer safety records. But, for a department that has so many men, continuously working on non-repeti- tive jobs, with all types of tools and machines, it is certainly an enviable accomplishment and one of which the maintenance members can be proud. The members have set a new goal at 1000 more days, or 2000 days in all, without a lost time acci dent. ā€™Iā€”* W IIIIUM'Mt* att Above: The choiv line outside the Trans portation building on August 19 when the men of the General Maintenance De partment of Ecusta Paper Division cele brated the establishing of a new safety record with a chicken dinner.
