The ”commercial” of a recent Buick-Berle net work television show compared the penetrating power of a 30-30 Winchester bullet with the compression of the Buick engine. Above is a scene in the Ammunition Research and Develop ment Laboratory of the Arms and Ammunition Division of Olin Industries at New Haven, Conn., where the production crew of the Buick show made the motion pictures that were used in the commercial. Above, left to right, are James Leiuis, camera^nan; Morton Connachie (kneeling); Mich ael Slifka and S. Skirpan, all of the Morton M. Connachie Productions crew; Bruce Allen rep resenting the Kudner Agency (at the right); end firing the Winchester Model 94, Burt Weds of the Ammunition Research and Development staff. A btdlet from the Model 94 was fired into ths wooden blocks on the stand at the right. Clyde G. "Speedy” Jones was photographed (fight) as he re ceived congratulations from Vin son K. Shannon. Speedy was elected president ' of the South eastern Division of the Ameri can Pulp and Paper Mill Super intendents Association at the an nual meeting at Edgewater Park, Mississippi, on October 28-30. He was First Vice-President of the group last year. Mr. Shan non of The Mead Corporation is the retiring president.
