D. IF. Peters J. T. Prescott D. W. PETERS AND J. T. PRESCOTT APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED D. W Peters has been appointed Wage and Salary Administrator of Olin Industries, and J. T. Prescott has been named Personnel Assistant. The appointments were announced by John E. Gag non, Olin’s Director of Personnel. Peters has been Wage and Salary Supervisor in the Industrial Relations Department of the Ecusta Paper Corporation, a subsidiary of Olin at Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. He joined Ecusta after three years as general administrative assistant to the Corporate Secretary of Libby, McNeill and Libby, Chicago. For four years he was Staff Analyst in the Salary Administration department. He was Industrial Relations Manager of the Gran ite City (Illinois) Steel Company for one year and for three years was Personnel Manager of the Aero Division of Minneapolis-Honeywell Regu lator Company, Chicago. A native of Moberly, Missouri, Peters was graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in economics. Peters will assist in the development of a wage and salary program throughout the company. Prescott has been assistant manager of the In dustrial Relations Department at the New Haven plant of Olin Industries since May of this year. He joined the Olin organization after fifteen years of personnel and training supervision at various plants of Talon, Inc. For seven years, prior to his present work, he was Supervisor of Personnel at Talon’s Hamden, Connecticut, plant. He was Supervisor of Training for two years at Talon’s main plant, Meadville, Pennsylvania, v/hich had 3500 employees. Prescott attended Erie, Pennsylvania, elemen tary and high schools and was a student at the Erie branch of the University of Pittsburgh. He is President of the New Haven Personnel Mana gers Association. The Personnel Assistant will coordinate the college recruitment program and assist in the Company’s general program of recruitment and placement of executives. He will also assist in the development of personnel policies and pro cedures. EXPANSION OF METALS DIVISION TO COST $5,500,000 John M. Olin, President of Olin Industries, Inc., has announced that the Board of Directors has authorized the expenditure of $5,500,000 for a project which will expand the fabricating facili ties of the Metals Division of East Alton. Products which will be manufactured in this plant will require the use of aluminum and copper base alloys. The new fabricating facility at East Alton shauld not be confused with Olin’s entrance into the aluminum industry at a site not yet de termined.
