M. L. Hertzog E. L. Lyun M. L. Herzog Appointed General Manager of Film Division; E. L. Lynn Appointed Cellophane Production Manager Milton L Herzog has been appointed General Manager of the Film Division of Olin Industries, Inc., which was formerly the Olin Cellophane Di vision and Edward L. Lynn has been appointed Cellophane Production Manager. This announce ment was made by John M. Olin, President. Mr. Herzog has been with the Company in re search and production since 1933. A native of St. Louis, Herzog graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, Rolla, Missouri, with a B. S. Degree in Chemical Engineering. He also studied at the American Institute of Banking and Washington University, both in St. Louis. While at the Missouri School of Mines he was elected to the Chemistry Fra ternity, Alpha Chi Sigma. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society and is a past chairman of the St. Louis section of that organ ization. He joined the Cellulose Research Activities of the Olin organization in June 1933. In 1940, just before the Second World War, he became Chief Inspector of the Ball Powder operations. In 1944, he was placed on special assignment at East Alton, New Haven and abroad. In 1946, he was placed in charge of Methods and Specifications for East Alton production of the Western Cartridge Com pany. He returned to Research in Film Processing in 1948. He became a member of the first group that began Olin’s cellophane operations in No* vember, 1949- Mr. Herzog came to Pisgah For est in 1950 and became the first Plant Manager of the new Olin Cellophane Plant in June, 195 L He became Production Manager in September, 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Herzog and son, Bruce, live in Brevard. Mr. Lynn has been associated with Olin Indus tries since June, 1951, when he joined the staff of the cellophane plant. A native of North Adams, Massachusetts, Lynn attended the Moses Brown School of Providence, Rhode Island, and Brown University, where he received his Masters Degree in Organic Chemis try in 1923. While at Brown University he was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa and an as sociate member of Sigma XL Prior to his association with Olin Industries, Mr. Lynn was Technical Superintendent of the Clinton Cellophane Plant of the E. I. Du Pont de Nemours & Company. He was with their high explosive department for 7 years, and their cel lophane division for 20 years, working in all Du Pont’s cellophane plants and the Wilmington, Delaware, headquarters. His last Du Pont assign ment was that of Technical Adviser to Olin dur ing the early months of their cellophane plant de sign. In addition to his new duties as Production Manager, Lynn will continue to act as Plant Man ager, the position which he has held since Octo ber, 1951.
