The new MathoUn Corporation hydrazine plant at Lake Charles, Louisiana, MathoUn is owned equal ly by Olin Industries, Inc, and Mathieson Chemical Corporation $>- Olin Industries, Inc., and Mathieson Chemical Corporation announced recently the formation of the Matholin Corporation, a new enterprise under its own separate management, but owned equally by Olin and Mathieson to manufacture, sell and conduct research on hydrazine To manv hydra zine is a strange new name, yet it is one of the most promising of the new commercial chemicals. It is a colorless liquid which looks like water, is highly reactive and until only quite recently was ONE OF THE MOST PROMISING OF THE NEW COMMERCIAL —$> HYDRAZINE CHEMICALS regarded as a laboratory curiosity. Right now hydrazine is important because of its value to the national defense as a fuel in driving rockets. Its peacetime uses are very promising and some 2,000 derivatives of hydrazine have al ready been reported. Some of these already are being used in medicinal, agricultural, plastic and other industries.
