LefL' An interior view of the Brevard Bowling Center, a good contender for the title of the busiest six-lane bowling establishment in North Carolina. The Center is the home of the Ecusta Bowling Leagues, where each week approximately 250 Ecusta bowling enthusiasts try thei/r skill at toppling the maple wood pins. All six alleys may be seen with the pins standing as set by the new semi-automatic electric pin spotters. The new spotters were installed during the Christmas holi days by Mr. T. T. Loftis, owner. Gutter Gus, along with his many bowling friends here at Ecusta, would like to express his appreciation for the fine spirit of cooperation shown by Mr. Loftis in helping to promote bowling both here at Ecusta and in Transylvania County. Right: (top photo) Mr. T. T. Loftis (at left), owner of the Brevard Bowling Center, shoivs Dan Wallen (center) of the Paper Division Research Bowling Team and Athletic Supervisor Fritz Merrell just how easily and quickly the pin- spotter is loaded and how the switch is pulled which lowers the pins into position on the alley; (center photo) The pins are lowered into posi tion; (lower photo) the pins have been spotted and released by the machine which is ascending to its position above the pins, now in position for bowling. The Center’s new Brunswick Semi- Automatic Pin-Spotters are a great asset to bowl ing as they provide a truer spotting of the pins and speed up the game by cutting down on the time involved in setting the pins. . y- ^ Left: Although the Endless Belt Team is the cel lar-dweller in the Women’s Bowling League, a spectator would find it hard to believe after see ing these girls in action. The enthusiasm and sportsmanship shown by all the teams is of the highest calibre. If there is anyone who hasn’t witnessed any of the Tuesday night matches, Gut ter Gus extends an invitation to everyone to drop in at the Bowling Center and see some near professional bowling. The Endless Belt team members are: (left to right, standing) Wilma Waters, Violet Patterson, Joyce Emory and Evelyn Erwin. Seated: (left to right) Mary Sue Thorne, Team Captain Peggy Gardner and Mary Alice Laughter. Wanda Nicholson was absent when the photo was taken. 15
