Among the February visitors to Ecusta were Mr. Wheelwright Papers, Inc. Shown above, left to A C. Burghardt and Mr. James Burke of Walker right, are R. E. Matthews, Mr. Burghardt, Mr. Goulard and Plehn, and Mr. George Watson of Watson, Mr. Burke, and Millard Teague. DID YOU KNOW THAT the Transylvania Chapter of the Ameri can Red Cross furnished all the first aid supplies for Transylvania County Schools last year. THAT 13 volunteer Red Cross Nurses worked 664 hours with the local hospital, Health Depart ment and the blood procurement program. THAT 45 volunteer Gray Ladies, staff aids and canteen workers spent 619 hours on Red Cross work in the county during 1953. THAT the Gray Ladies spent 730 hours on vet erans service work last year. THAT gifts to hospitalized veterans amounted to $332.77. THAT the Home Service chairman handled 300 cases and made loans amounting to $427.83. THAT the local chapter’s pro rata share of the Blood Center expense was $650.16. THAT during the fiscal year 1953-54, with one more visit of the Bloodmobile in May, Transyl vania County has contributed 978 pints of blood against a quota of 700 pints. THAT with the expansion program of the Gray Ladies, Nurses Aid and the Junior Red Cross the answer the call services rendered by the local chapter will just about double in 1954-55. THAT telephone and telegraph costs in handl ing veterans cases last year was $521.33. 10
