Many of the fellows are bragging already of their gardening accomplish ments and others have immediate plans when the frost scare is past. I myself have at least one onion "poking” its head expectantly toward the sky. Some folks are already taking advantage of the balmy weather we had recently to take picnic ex cursions in Pisgah Forest. We envy Troy Williams. At this writing he is on a cruise to Mexico with the U. S. Navy Re serve. David Blackwell and Harold Orr enjoyed two week’s vacations recently. Welcome Joe Heatherly to the towers. The recent announcement of additional cello phane manufacturing facilities at Kern, Indiana, was well received by all employees. LOOK WHO^S HERE Mr. and Mrs. John Carr (N. Y. Cello-Sales Of fice) are happy to announce the arrival of a son, Steven Douglas, born in New Jersey on March 6, and weighing 6 lbs. 8 oz. It is a boy for Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Johnson (Traffic Department). Robert Newton was born at the Transylvania Community Hospital on March 10 and weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. Edith Jo McCall, was born to Mr. and Mrs. R. Troy McCall (Film Div.-Maintenance) on March 14 at home. She tipped the scales at 7 lbs. Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Bell (Coating Depart ment) announce the arrival of a son, Thomas El lis, born on March 18 at the Transylvania Com munity Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz. It is a girl for Mr. and Mrs. J. Spurgeon Car penter. Diane Elizabeth was born at the Transyl vania Community Hospital on March 18 and weighed 5 lbs. 9 oz. Terry Keith Mann was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin H. Mann (Film Div. Finishing) on March 18 at the Transylvania Community Hospital. He tipped the scales at 8 lbs. 8 oz. From the Refining Department we have the news of a baby boy for Mr. and Mrs. Ansel R. Jones. Steven Ansel was born at St. Joseph’s Hos pital on March 19 and weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. Mr. and Mrs. Reuben M. Dalton (Finishing- Paper) are the proud parents of a baby girl, Rita The lad above is James Terry Bryson, 18 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie H. Bryson, Jr. James’ father is employed in the Coating Department and his grandfather is in the Protection Department. Sherman Hunter Power In December, 1776, William Hooper, Joseph Hewes and Thomas Burke were appointed to pre pare a suitable device for the Great Seal of the State of North Carolina. Two figures were on this seal. Liberty and Plenty, as is still the case. But here’s an interesting difference: in the orig inal seal, Liberty is shown sitting down and Plenty is shown standing. In the present seal. Liberty is standing and Plenty is sitting. The young of haddock is called a scrod. The young of- cattle is called a stirk. The young of a pigeon is called a squealer. The young of a horse is known as a stot. The young of a sheep is called a teg, The young of a herring is known as a brit. The young of a mink is known as a kit.
