POWER
By Lewis Alexander
This is the month for flowers and vacations.
This is, also, a month (like a lot of other months),
when something nice happens to a lot of us, and
then something sad or heartbreaking happens to
others.
Two of the nicest things that have happened in
our d'Spartmint in a long time were first, the new
arrival £t the Horace Hall home. Horace is now
passing out cigars with "Junior” printed on the
labels. Maybe at an early date Horace and Leola
will let us print a picture of their new son and of
their beautiful daughter, Susie Ann.
The second nice thing, but not least, that hap
pened was also a new arrival at the John Jackson
home. John and Lora are really proud, and they
have every right to be. Lots of luck to you both,
and also the new daughter. Maybe they will honor
us with a picture in the near future.
The father of T. O. Bowen, and father-in-law of
S. A. Kent, passed away on the 12th of April. The
sympathy of all personnel in the Power and Water
Department is extended to both families.
One of the most discouraging things that can
happen to a hunter or a fisherman is to have the
time to go fishing or hunting and then not be able
to go. For example, Sam Kent was on his five
days off and had a big fishing trip all planned.
But then things don’t always go according to plans
— Sam was summoned to serve on the jury and
there went his fishing trip. Anyone knowing Sam
Kent and his fishing habits can feel what Sam
went through for three days sitting on the jury.
Several vacations have been taken. C. Allison
reported a nice trip to Wilmington, N. C., where
he enjoyed the Azalea Festival. C. Cantrell made
a trip north. North, did I say? We still dont know
how far north of Etowah! V. Lominac is taking,
two weeks. We don’t know what his plans are.
Foy Guice, and Bill Lyday are taking two weeks;
Sam Kent and Obie Willingham are taking a week
each. You could almost bet your last dollar on
what these four will do when they get a vacation.
Look out for some tall fish tales.
We are all very happy that Eb Morrow’s moth
er is at home and improving after a stay in a Co
lumbia, S. C., hospital.
So, until next month, more POWER to you alL
