Annie’s "grieving and squalling” all over the department! Why? Because Arnold’s in the Army now. Phil didn’t bite anyone while he was going to the dentist. He didn’t miss but one day and came back eating Pearl’s peanut candy. Dixie has been out sick for several days. Dixie, hope to see you back soon. Herbert is on vacation! Working that new farm no doubt. Carolyn and Alma have new telephones. But L. C. keeps Carolyn’s line busy talking to Gladys. All the girls were thrilled this week because "Turby” has been working in John’s place. Walter came back tanned and rested! He va cationed in Florida. Above is Lowell Love, six year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Love of Route One, Hendersonville. John is employed in the Autobound Department. OFFICE BITS By Alex Duris Now that one of the cold est Springs on record is be hind us, maybe we can look forward to reaping a harvest without any more killing frosts. For those of us who garden on a small scale, it is vexing and irritating to go out the morning after a frost and find all the tender things killed. How truly tragic it must be for farmers who depend upon a harvest for a liv ing, to awaken in the morning and find that frost has given them a terrific blow. Farmers, over the years and from generation to generation, seem to keep going against the vagaries of nature and the market place. Must take a stout breed to be a farmer!!! Charley Cook got so excited when he saw the 16 pound Big Mouth Bass from the Silver Springs Glass Bottom Boat that his wife had to catch him by the shirt tail to keep him from jumping over board. St. Augustine, Deland, Daytona and Ocala were the other places visited while they were in Florida. Marie Watson was another to enjoy a Florida vacation. She attended the Easter Sunrise Services at the Bok Tower in Lake Wales, and did a lot of surf swimming at Daytona. George Huscamp paid Ecusta a visit recently. Retirement seems to agree with him for he was sporting a deep sun tan. Mr. Huscamp looks very well. Martha Ann Tuck and Joyce Brown enjoyed a quickie trip to Myrtle Beach where they managed to get a fair sun tan in a short time. Mrs. Brown and Joyce’s sisters completed the party. Different ones around the office are bragging about their cardiograms which they got during their medical exams. Warren Arthur Johnson arrived on April 25 and weighed in at 7 lbs. 5^ oz. Warren is th^ new son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm F. Johnson. Mai works on the Main Floor while Barbara was Mr. Marder’s Secretary. Congratulations to both!! George Taylor is now driving a Pontiac. Seems to be a pretty popular car around Ecusta. Marie and Gene Eggert got rid of their Chevy and are now driving a Jeep Station Wagon. Handy tricks, those Jeeps. I could use one to good ad vantage! The contractors have just turned over to me the shell of a house. Do any amateur carpenters or 22
