Now that one of the cold
est Springs on record is be
hind us, maybe we can look
forward to reaping a harvest
without any more killing
frosts. For those of us who
garden on a small scale, it is
vexing and irritating to go
out the morning after a frost and find all the
tender things killed. How truly tragic it must be
for farmers who depend upon a harvest for a liv
ing, to awaken in the morning and find that frost
has given them a terrific blow.
Farmers, over the years and from generation
to generation, seem to keep going against the
vagaries of nature and the market place. Must
take a stout breed to be a farmer!!!
Charley Cook got so excited when he saw the
16 pound Big Mouth Bass from the Silver Springs
Glass Bottom Boat that his wife had to catch him
by the shirt tail to keep him from jumping over
board. St. Augustine, Deland, Daytona and Ocala
were the other places visited while they were in
Florida.
Marie Watson was another to enjoy a Florida
vacation. She attended the Easter Sunrise Services
at the Bok Tower in Lake Wales, and did a lot
of surf swimming at Daytona.
George Huscamp paid Ecusta a visit recently.
Retirement seems to agree with him for he was
sporting a deep sun tan. Mr. Huscamp looks very
well.
Martha Ann Tuck and Joyce Brown enjoyed a
quickie trip to Myrtle Beach where they managed
to get a fair sun tan in a short time. Mrs. Brown
and Joyce’s sisters completed the party.
Different ones around the office are bragging
about their cardiograms which they got during
their medical exams.
Warren Arthur Johnson arrived on April 25
and weighed in at 7 lbs. 5^ oz. Warren is th^
new son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm F. Johnson.
Mai works on the Main Floor while Barbara was
Mr. Marder’s Secretary. Congratulations to both!!
George Taylor is now driving a Pontiac. Seems
to be a pretty popular car around Ecusta.
Marie and Gene Eggert got rid of their Chevy
and are now driving a Jeep Station Wagon. Handy
tricks, those Jeeps. I could use one to good ad
vantage!
The contractors have just turned over to me the
shell of a house. Do any amateur carpenters or
