OFFICE BITS
By Alex Duris
The schools have closed
their doors after turning out
into the world another group
of young men and women.
As in every year in the past,
many of the graduates will
have already chosen their
careers and the colleges and
universities which they will attend. Then, there
will be another group who are on the fence. Shall
they continue with higher education or specialized
training or should they enter the labor field now
and acquire a job. Of course, there is the third
group who have already decided that they want
no more higher education but will be content to
hold down a "job”.
Now is the time for the second group to get off
the fence and take advantage of the opportunities
to go on with higher education. As for the third
group—they too should reconsider, for it is now,
that the decision must be made. Later will be too
late for formal education.
It will be well for the youngsters to remember
that as a rule, the earning capacities of individuals
is in direct ratio to the amount of schooling under
taken. Most Ecusta youngsters realize this and
have made plans for higher education. More
power to all of you!
Eric Klien, went on a business trip down
Shreveport, Louisiana way. How did you like it
down there, Eric?
Hazel Reece, who formerly worked in the Gen
eral Files department, paid a visit to the Main Of
fice recently, bringing with her Janice, her young
daughter. Hazel looked rested up in spite of the
fact that she is taking care of an active youngster.
We are glad you dropped in!
Charles and Gaynell Brewer took a short vaca
tion to see Charlie’s mother in the eastern part of
the state and to take a few dips in the surf at
Wrightsville Beach.
Betty Gardner enjoyed an early beach vacation
at Myrtle Beach. Her sun tan was just right. Not
too light and not too dark.
Charles Baker and family chose the right time
to go to Myrtle Beach. After the unseasonably
cold weather of the first week in June, it turned
hot and ideal weather for the Baker family to en
joy the surf.
Lloyd and Nell Tuck took a cross country trip to
Los Angeles, California, and a side trip down into
Mexico, crossing over the border at El Paso, Texas.
Lloyd has many interesting observations which he
made on the trip. They also ran into a dust storm
in New Mexico, which added another item of in
terest to their trip.

group to go to Daytona Beach, Florida this past
month. Most of the time there are so many Ecus-
tans at Daytona that they think they are all on the
beach at Camp Straus. Daytona is wonderful!
Katherine Siniard acquired a deep sun tan and
an enjoyable time at Myrtle Beach. The sun tan
she brought back should last through until No
vember.
Mr. and Mrs. Manfred Landeck of the New
York Export Paper Office were presented with a
boy on April 17th.
Robert Charles, is the name of the young man
who weighed in gross weight, 6 lbs. 7 ozs., at the
Madison Avenue Hospital in New York City.
Congratulations!
Jean Chambers was all set for a vacation at
Miami Beach, Florida when zingo—her boy got
the measles. Jean spent her vacation at Turkey
Creek instead!
Fritz Merrell attended a convention in Chicago
the last week in May. How did you like the
Windy City?
Johnnie and DeWitt Drake, beach bound on
their vacation. Don’t know for sure but believe
that it was Myrtle Beach that they went to. Does
it matter too much which beach it is as long as
one can plunge into the pounding surf!!!
Carl Stephens and family, another group to en
joy the surf. Myrtle Beach was their base of op
erations.
Marguerite Thompson enjoyed a short vacation
not too long ago.
Why don’t we close up the office for the sum
mer and all go to the beach? Yeah, I know! It’s
just a pipe dream!
