SAFE DRIVER AWARDS PRESENTED TO TRANSPORTATION PERSONNEL In presenting Safe Driver Awards on May 10, 1934, L. F Dixon congratulated the 10 'operators of the Transportation Department for their con tinued safety consciousness behind the wheel, as well as for having worked 970 consecutive days in their department without a disabling injury. Each man received lapel pins and pocket cards furnished by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Shown above 1st row: Oscar L. Gasper son (7 years), Clyde T. Sorrells (2 years), Arthur Cecil Wilson (11 years), Clarence White, Eddie Moss (14 years), R. R. Bolt, E. B. Garrett and L. F. Dixon. 2nd row: Robert E. Powell (2 years) and James M. Rigdon (11 years). RESEARCH By Hilda Hunnicutt First of all we would like to welcome Edna Waldrop into our midst. Edna is our new steno grapher who replaced Mary Jane McCall. Sin cerely hope you enjoy working with us, Edna. Mary Jane has been transferred to the Power Department, and we wish her the best of luck with her new job. Charlie Glazener is in Charleston on a 2-weeks’ Navy duty tour. Gus Grose and Charlie Norlander spent a week’s vacation at Myrtle Beach. They came back with wonderful tans. Joe Schlosser and Jim Brennan, with their fam ilies, vacationed at New Smyrna Beach, Florida and reported a nice time. Freddie Norris vacationed for a week trying to acquire a sun tan and came back to work tanned and freckled. Dr. Sigmon spent a week of his vacation just taking it easy. At the time of this writing, Lucy Clarke is va cationing at the beach in Charleston, S. C. These beaches sure do sound wonderful. All one needs is the time and the money! JEWEL WILSON WINS PRIZE IN SAFETY CONTEST Jewel Wilson of the Factory Office received word last month that she had won a $5.00 prize for a winning line in the March Calendar contest, which is sponsored by the National Safety Coun cil. Limericks are printed on the calendars which were distributed to each employee by the Safety Departments. We believe that Jewel is the first to win an award in these contests.
