JOHN W. HANES John W. Hanes, former Under-Secretary of the United States Treasury, is chairman of the finance committee and vice president for finance and a di rector of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation. He is the former financial vice president, director and member of the Executive Committee of Olin Industries, Inc. Mr. Hanes became a partner of Charles D. Bar ney and Company in 1922 and was a senior part ner from 1929 through 1937. On January 1, 1938, he was appointed a com missioner of the Securities and Exchange Com mission. Appointed Assistant- Secretary of the United States Treasury on July 1 of the same year, he was named Under-Secretary of the Treas ury, November 1, 1938, in which position he served until his resignation January 1, 1940. Mr. Hanes has been director and chairman of the Executive Committee of the United States Lines Company. He is a director of Johns-Manville Corporation, Bankers Trust Company of New York, Mutual Life Insurance Company, P. H. Hanes Knitting Company and Chairman of the Tax Foundation of the Olin Oil and Gas Corpor ation. A graduate of Yale University, Mr. Hanes holds an L.L.D. from Duke University and D.C.S. from New York University. J. C. LEPPART John C. Leppart, executive vice-president and a director of the company, joined Mathieson Chemical Corporation in 1948 as a vice-president. He was appointed executive vice-president in July of that year and first vice-president in January, 1954. Before coming to Mathieson, Mr. Leppart was vice-president of Prior Chemical Corporation, New York, and previous to that he occupied ex ecutive positions with the Southern Alkali Corpor ation, Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, and Solvay Process Company. During World War II he served as chief, Chlorine-Alkali Section, and assist ant chief. Inorganic Chemicals Division, of the War Production Board. He is a director of the National Fertilizer Association. S. de J. OSBORNE Stanley de J. Osborne, executive vice president of the new corporation, was financial vice presi dent of Mathieson Chemical Corporation. Before joining Mathieson in 1950, he was vice president of Eastern Airlines, Inc., and from 1929 to 1943 was associated with Atlantic Coast Fisheries Co., where he successively held the positions of treas urer, secretary and vice president. During World War II he served as special assistant to the Rubber Director in Washington. Mr. Osborne is a di rector of the American Machine and Foundry Co., and a governor of the Boys Athletic League, New York City.
