One of the highlights of the fiftieth anniversary
observance at the Huttig, Arkansas sau/mill of the
Forest Products Division was the planting of pine
seedlings at the Arkansas-Louisiana state line. The
planting -was symbolic of the reforestation prac
tices by which the modern Southern lumber in
dustry is maintaining its forests in perpetuity.
Participating in ceremonies were (left to right),
Congressman Oren Harris of El Dorado, Ark.,
Spencer T. Olin, director and member of the fin
ance and executive committees of Olin Mathieson
Chemical Corporation, John W. Hanes, vice presi
dent for finance, and Governor Robert F. Kennon
of Louisiana. Officers and directors of Olin
Mathieson attending the ceremonies included N.
Harvey Collisson, R. R. Casteel, Ralph Ostberg,
Frank T. Whited, and Randle T. Moore. Approxi
mately 2,000 persons including employees and
guests attended dedication ceremonies at the mill.
NEW CELLOPHANE PLANT TO BE AT OLIN, INDIANA
Olin is the name selected for the site of the
new celophane plant to be constructed in Indiana
by Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation. The
plant itself will be known as The Olin Works.
This announcement was made by N. H. Collisson,
vice president for operations.
The site was formerly known as Kern and is
about ten miles east of Danville, 111., and two
miles west of Covington, Ind., on the west bank
of the Wabash river. It is on the Peoria and East
ern Division of the New York Central System.
