Theodore Weicker, Jr. Edgar W. Taft C. C. Tallman Mathieson Overseas Division. Mr. Weicker had been associated with E. R. Squibb & Sons since 1942 and from 1925 to 1930. Squibb was merged with Mathieson in 1952. He was administrative vice president and a director of the E. R. Squibb & Sons International Corporation. From 1939 to 1941 he was a partner in E. F. Hutton & Co. and from 1931 to 1938 a partner in Weicker & Co., members of the New York stock exchange. EDGAR W. TAFT Edgar W. Taft, treasurer and a director of the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation, is a vet eran of 38 years with the company’s New Haven offices. The first 15 years of his career were spent with the former Winchester Repeating Arms Company and the last 23 years with the Olin or ganization following the company’s acquisition of Winchester in 1931. Mr. Taft has held various engineering, purchas ing, accounting and financial positions with Win chester or Olin until he was appointed assistant treasurer of Olin Industries, Inc., in 1939. He was elected to the Olin board of directors in 1942 and was elected company treasurer the following year. C. C. TALLMAN C. C. Tallman, Comptroller of the Olin Mathie son Chemical Corporation, joined the Olin organ ization in 1942. A native of Syracuse, New York, Mr. Tallman is a graduate of Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. He has a B.S. and M.C.S. degree. Before joining Olin, Mr. Tallman had been assistant controller of Oswego Falls Corporation, Fulton, New York, and assistant controller of Franklin Automobile Company, Syracuse, New York. He was appointed controller of Olin In dustries, Inc., in 1944. He is a member of the National Association of Cost Accountants and the Controllers’ Institute of America. GORDON GRAND Gordon Grand, Jr., Secretary of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation, is a former chief counsel and clerk to the Republican members of the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Represent- Gordon Grand John J. Toohy atives. A graduate of Hill School, Pottstown, Pa., and Yale University, he has a law degree from the Harvard Law School. He also took special work at the University of Madrid, Spain; University of North Carolina and Columbia University. He en tered the Army as a private in March, 1941, and was promoted through the ranks to major. He was an assistant to Secretary of War Henry L. Stim- son, serving in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. Mr. Grand taught for a year at Millbrook School, Millbrook, N. Y., before becoming an assistant in the law firm of Spence, Hotchkiss, Parker and Duryee. After six years as counsel for the Repub lican Ways and Means Committee, he joined the Olin organization in 1953 as assistant to the presi dent. He is a member of the Bar Association of New York City and is a trustee for the Tax Foun dation. JOHN J. TOOHY John J. Toohy is vice president for operations of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation. He is also executive vice president of the E. R. Squibb & Sons Division of the Corporation, a position to which he was named in February of 1953. Pre viously Mr. Toohy, who has been with Squibb since 1922, held the post of sales vice president. Among the positions held by Mr. Toohy at Squibb were: Branch Manager, Kansas City; Sales Manager, Home Necessities; and Manager of Field Personnel. During World War II Mr. Toohy served in the Office of Price Administration in Washington, D. C., while on leave from Squibb. Born in Cambridge, Mass. (Nov. 16, 1901), he attended St. Paul’s School and Cambridge Latin School, from which he matriculated into Harvard University. He took an A.B. and A.M. degree at Harvard, with a heavy schedule of courses in chemistry. Mr. Toohy resides at Rye, New York. He is married and has three sons and two daughters. He is a member of the Association of Harvard Chemists, the University Club, the Harvard Club, and has been prominent in New York Board of Trade activities. 7
