’’Sandy” Loftis, shoivn above, is the six-months old son of Mr. and Mrs. "Chick” Loftis of Brevard, Sandy’s father is employed in the White depart ment. He is the nephew of Ed Loftis and Ro Ann Peterson. "C" SHIFT WHITE DEPARTMENT By Ann Rogers It looks as tho we might have some snow just any day! That thrills most of us, especially Bar bara R. and Jimmie L. They love snow ball fights? Betty W. visited a friend in Waynesville last week-end, but the trip was saddened by the death of the friend’s father. Our sympathy goes to the family. Faye L. has taken her vacation. We hope she had lots of fun and that she didn’t forget us work ing people! Our news is scattered and hard to find, but we do have another interesting item. Dorris is now married and is very happy. The lucky guy is Olan Owen. It does look as tho she’ll be more than a cousin to me. Olan’s brother, Furman, and I are to be married December 23! I wonder if she’ll be as good a sister-in-law as she is a cousin? Two of our girls take weekly trips and enjoy them very much. Bettie T. visits her mother in Canton and Willie B. visits her in-laws in Glen- ville. Bet they have fun! Eugene M. went ’coon hunting one night this week but he didn’t get one. I wonder why? Why does George P. sing "Oh, What a Dream” all the time? It sounds very interesting! We welcome Johnny Boggs to our department and hope he is happy working with us. Dot R. said she won’t have to worry about housework next week as her husband, Chris, will be on vacation. Do you want to bet? Terrell and .Merrill keep us running. The names are so much alike we usually call the wrong one. Don J. and Charles P. say they don’t have time for anything but eating, sleeping, and working. Working crowds their schedule? It’s almost time to exchange Christmas presents again and we have already drawn names. What do you want—a T.V. set, a mink coat, a string of pearls, or a Cadillac? Uyless T. would like to know if he is an oper ator or not. He is changed so much we all are confused. Mildred B. has been baking some delicious spice cakes. What do you say—let’s drop in sometime when she is on a cooking spree! We enjoyed having Ernest Hollingsworth with us while Faye was on vacation. Maybe he’ll be back soon. Betty W. just told me that her boy friend would be home ten days at Thanksgiving. Believe me, she is happy! Boyce W. likes operating a machine until the inspector says something is wrong with his prod uct. Then it’s all yours! Vivian has been sporting some new shirts. Gee, I wish I could get some that pretty. Howard M. said it took a week of days to get over a week of "graveyard”! We know what he means!! Flossie and her new "right-hand”, Dixie Whit aker have been running relays between the Gray and White Departments, but we really enjoy hav ing them around. And, say, did you know Flossie is building a new home? It must be wonderful!! Doris Kimberly and joe Olan Owen were mar ried in a dottble-ring ceremony in Pickens, S. C. on October 13, Probate Judge E. A. Lewis offici ated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H, A. Gribble of Franklin, N. C. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Owen of Route 1, Lake Toxaway. The couple is now residing at Lake Sega in Brevard. Mrs. Owen is employed in the White department. 21
