DR. COLLINGS NEW
MEMBER OF A-B STAFF
Dr. Wilbur Collings has been
selected for the offices of business
manager, treasurer, and professor
of accounting at Asheville-Bilt
more College.
Dr. Collings has had a great deal
of teaching experience in the field
of accountancy at Grove City Col
lege in Grove City Pennsylvania.
He has also been a lecturer in Eu
ropean accounting theory at North
western University.
Dr. Collings was educated at the
Ecole Pigier in Paris, France, and
received his Ph.D. in commerce at
the University of Lausanne in
Switzerland. He did two years of
post-doctoral work at the Univer
sity of Geneva in Switzerland and
the University of Bonn in Germany.
Formally a resident of South Da
kota, Dr. Collings has been living
in Asheville for almost a year. The
student body extends its best wish
es and compliments, and hopes that
his stay will be a pleasant one.
STUDENTS HEAR BALLAD
PROGRAM BY MOSER
Asheville-Biltmore social science
instructor Artus M. Moser pre
sented a program of folk songs and
ballads during the October 18 Seely
Hall assembly period. Mr. Moser,
who has collected over 350 ballads
for Washington’s famed Library of
Congress, sang several traditional
tunes from his own collection.
Class Officers Elected
Freshman and sophomore class
officers were elected in the student
assembly of October 6.
The results of the freshman elec
tion were as follows: president—
Joel Holt; vice president—Jimmy
Gibbs; secretary—Jo Price; treas
urer—John Laughter. The Student
Council representatives are Mike
Pinney, Joe Wright, George Mc
Cracken, and Anne Burnette.
The president of the sophomore
class is Lynn Jervis; vice president
—Gerald Thompson; secretary and
treasurer—Virginia Speirakis. The
Student Council representatives
are Dot Meadows, Eugene Waldrop
and Carl Greene.
RADIO CLASS
MEETS AT WLOS
The radio class of Asheville-
Biltmore is very fortunate to have
a completely revised department.
Mr. Fred Brown, well known lo
cal announcer and sportcaster, is
conducting the class. The studios
and facilities of radio station WLOS
are used, giving the students practi
cal training under actual broadcast
ing conditions.
Mr. Brown attended the Univer
sity of North Carolina and North
western University. At one time
he was associated with radio sta
tion WNCA of Asheville.

casts are now in production and will
be announced soon.
