CAMPUS CRIER Asheville-Biltmore College, Asheville, N. C., March, 1952 COLLEGE mn PLAN!; FOR MAV OAV EXERCISES STUDENTS REORGANIZE DRAMATICS CLUB Because of the interest of several of our students, the Dramatics Club was reorganized in February of this year. Officers were elected and they are as follows: president, Harvey Haynes; vice-president, Ray Saw yer; secretary, Sally Swain; lectur ers, Ruth Reid and John Young. The group is hoping to participate actively in the Hubert Hayes’ fron tier drama, “Thunderland,” which will be held this summer. The club’s membership is small, but as the saying goes: “big things come in small packages.” COLLEGE HOLDS DANCE By PEARLINE LAKEY The students of Asheville-Bilt more College held a George Wash ington dance in Seely Hall on Fri day evening, February 22. The dance, which was semi-for- mal, started at 9 o’clock and lasted until 12 o’clock. The hall was dec orated in red, white and blue. The students and their dates danced to the music of the Kay Baber quintet. This was especially nice since Mary Kay Baber is one of our students. The chaperones were Miss Miller, Dr. and Mrs. Bushey, Mr. and Mrs. Sparks, and Dr. Pierce. Most important among activities enveloping our campus are the May day exercises. Not only are we fortunate enough to have a very pretty queen and court, but the exercises are under the direction of a capable person, Mrs. Norman Wishart, and are be ing sponsored by the Classical Co- Eds. The play to be given is “Hansel and Gretel,” the fairy tale. The cast includes Hansel, played by Dav id Blazer; Gretel, Modena Penland; sandman, Bob Cooper; mother, Frances Penland; father, Joe Patel- idas; witch, Annie Yarborough; and a narrator. The May queen and her court are Anne Burnette, queen; Agnes Car- relli and Bobbie Capps, sophomore attendants; and Barbara Zibelin and Barbara Macon, freshman at tendants. The exercises will be held May 1, 1952, on the Asheville-Biltmore Col lege campus. IN MEMORIAM Our Beloved Dean W. W. HANAMAN Died February 16, 1952
