CAMPUS CRIER Published three times a year by the Weepers of Asheville-Biltmore College, Asheville, North Carolina. Articles in the Campus Crier reflect the opinions of the writers and do not claim to represent student or college opinion. Editor-in-Chief John Young MOMENTS OF INSPIRATION He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. PSALMS 23:3 EDITORIAL Plans are progressing rapidly for the construction of an outdoor theater in Chunn’s Cove, to be used this summer for the production of a historical drama by Hubert Hayes. The name of this production, based on the life of Daniel Boone, is “Thunderland.” The drama will be produced for a ten-week period, starting late in June. Direction will be by Bob Porterfield, and music composed by Lamar Stringfield. It has been announced that all net profits from the project would go into the general fund of A-B C. Just think of what this will do for the school! Through this drama, the college would also receive plenty of publicity. Students majoring in dramatics would receive valuable workshop exper ience in this drama. The project will be financed through the sale of stock. We all hope that these plans will be carried out successfully, and that “Thunderland” will become a living memorial to a great pioneer, Daniel Boone. WASTED ENERGY By JIM SELF Since the opening of the spring semester, there has been a notice able amount of energy wasted on the part of almost the entire stu dent body. Not wasted in the sense of doing nothing, but pairing off in small groups within the clubs and organizations, and doing everything but coming to blows. The result: nothing accomplished for that club. The answer to the problem might lie in the fact that many club pro jects are undertaken without the whole-hearted support of its mem bers. Rather than find more worth while projects to do, the motion is carried. Then the members, who didn’t like the idea in the first place, sit back with a “let George do it” attitude, resulting in a one sided affair defeating the true pur pose of the club—^fellowship and working together. The next time a motion in a club is brought up for a vote, be sure that you’re willing to work for it before you vote.
