Here’s vour chance to get involved and do something interesting and fun. There is a new duo on camous, Magnum knis Caeli (Latin for great fire in the sky). On November 28th the first meeting was held. Some of the things discussed were a trio to an orphanage, spon soring music oy the music club, and intermural sports for girls. Membership is open and applications may be placed with Mary Border in H dorm Room 210. uuin/ The first MUD “500” Qub versus Big Wise Bouncers bas ketball game was very comical and beneficial. The crowd of 75 that filled the gym on Tuesday November 28 saw the MUD“500” comoletly domi nate the action. The Big Bouncers were paced by the efforts of such D.J.’s as Doctor John! Ray Mitchell, and their exceptional outside shooter Dawn. Because of the tremen dous coaching job of Qiarles- tom Miles and Eddie “JoJo” Latta, the MUD played flaw less basketball. The MUD squad consisted of such tal ented plavers as Kone, Big Tuna, Joisev, Bull, Grizzley, Judas, Weasel, Mac, and Riff Raff. Because of some contro versial calls made in the game, the MUD was prevented from its first shutout. The game was rugged and fast-oaced , but the Mud was gracious to the end to its opponents: The BIG WISE BOUNCERS were treated to “Jim Jones Cocktails” after the game. Autograph seekers were kept in order by the MUD “500” Qub security force, which con sisted of Sednul 20/20, Roscoe, Fok, Wombat, Belker, and Put man. The proceeds from the fame were donated to the I.N.C.-A. Cheerleaders and the Pep board. Ramsey Library has arrang ed with the Asheville Revi talization Commission to dis play the graphic highlights of the Asheville Revitalization Plan. The plan, which will serve as basis for downtown Asheville dicision making in the years to come, is the result of a year long planning procew involving tne Ashevule Revi talization Commission, the City of Asheville’s Division of Plan ning, numerous other govern ment officials, two private con sulting firms and many inter ested citizens. The display can be viewed during regular library hours through Dec. 13. Citiieri summaries of the plan ar available. Box 7148, Asheville, N.C. 28807, and one will be mailed to you. Philosophy Club Symposium The Philosophy Club is now organizing a symposium on mysticism. It will involve a three member panel discussion between a Zen Buddhist, a Roman Catholic nun, and a Muslim Sufi. Mysticism mvolves those lines of thouglit that claim immediate understanding of the divine, and does no mvolve. The symposium will be held sometim next term at Grace Episcopal Church. HISTORY ASSOCIATION '^CHRISTMAS R!»lRTY UNC-A’s History Association is sponsoring a Christmas get-togetli- er oarty and buffet at the home of Dr. Milton Ready, 1 Greystone Rd., on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 4:.30 p.m.. The dinner is open to all history students and to anyone interested in liistory regardless ot major. All persons are asked to bring either a salad, vegetable, or dtessert. Future plans of the History Association include spon soring a colonial ball and a film in the spring. BIGELOW SELECTED AS EDITOR OF RIDGERUNNER Roodu Publi/hcy Dr. Milton Ready, associate professor of history and chair man of the histoiy department, has recently published an eco nomic history of Georgia which covers the period of 1732 to 1754. His book, Tlie Castle Builders, is a revision of his * doctoral dissertation which was done while a graduate student at the University of Georgia at Athens. The book deals with failure of colonial America’s “Last Utopia”— Georgia - be cause philanthropists in London directed the affairs in Savannah from 3,000 miles away. PSI CHI LECTURE Dr. Tom Schmidt, a Gestalt psychologist, lectured to students on Thursday, Dec. 7 in the simu lation lab of the Social Sciences Building. His subject. Gestalt psychology, is a form of aware ness trainmg. Followint his talk, he demonstrated Gestalt psychol ogy and various students partici pated in some exercises. The event was sponsored by Phi Chi, an honor society in psychology. HOLIDAY FESTIVAL There will be an International Holiday Festival sponsored by UNC-A’’s French, German, and S|3anish clubs on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7p.m. in the Lipins)^ Student Center Auditorium. Tlie event will include ethnic food, films, and folk dances representing the culture of the various countries. The event is open to everyone and admission is by bringing a refreshment, either food or dnnk. French, German, and Spanish cos tumes are desired, but not requir ed. Pa^r^.
