lahi© iiXiP JANUARY 19,1979 NEW UNIVERSITY CENTER PRESENTED TO TRUSTEES Mr. J. Bertram King of J. Bert ram King Associates F.A.LA. pre sented the Board of Trustees of UNC-Asheville with a schematic design of a 4.828 million dollar new University Center on Thurs day, Jan. 18, 1979. The money has been included in Gov. Jim Hunt’s proposed budget for 1979. Mr. Board Center King explained to the the layout of both the and the Dorm buflding. The new student center in cludes facilities for a new cam pus bookstore, snack shop, cafe teria, S. G. office, Ridgerunner office. Summit office, radio station phis recreational and study rooms. Right next to the student center will be a seven-storey building with room for 300 new dorm students occupying 24 rooms on each floor. There will be one kitchen on the first floor along with a laundry room with six to eight washers for the 300 students. Also included in the plans will be a new access road leading from Weaver Boulevard to the campus. It is expected that the new road will relieve some of the current traffic flow.
