Thursday, Sept. 29, 1983/Kalelcio8cope/6 entertainment in- One Night Stand: Jim Ritchey and BeJae Fleming made new friends and admirers last Saturday night. Photo by Pam Walker One night stand: worth rememberinq by Pam Walker ^ It is so seldom to hear a truly talented and clear voice. But BeJae Fleming has just such a voice. An attempt to compare the blend of Fleming's voice and the mellow voice of husband, Jim Ritchey, to anything here locally would be futile. Their "One Night Stand" performance last Saturday evening began with Fleming singing the lead and Ritchey providing the har mony. But after only a few songs, they switched parts. This provided a variety of sounds and song styles unexpected from a musical group consisting of just two musicans. Friendly and relaxed, Fleming and Ritchey talked with the audience. They talked with the audience, not at them. This casual atmosphere soon transformed their performance into a comfortable gathering of friends rather than an audience and paid per formers . One of their first songs was Old Memories, which told of the loose ends people leave behind in their hometowns. This was especially appropriate as Fleming is originally from Greensboro, NC, via Texas and is experiencing all the leftovers from her child hood as she travels in her home state. Oh, Missouri is an orignal song by Fleming. She wrote it in tribute to an old friend. This song relates the special bond between two friends who share their innermost secrets. Ritchey also performed his original song, Tenn essee Rider, which Kenny Rogers recorded on his album, THE GAMBLER. Toe-tapping music, tacos with melted cheese, lots of beer, and good friends made this "One Night Stand" performance a great evening for everyone.
