The election for Homecoming King and (^leen v/ill take place Sept. 27 and 28 in the student center. The nominees are: Homecoming Queen Domi Senator Homecoming King Patti Brooks Jim Dills Jeff Cloud Kasey Clontz Matt Maci'Jeill Steve Magoon Meg Johnson Freshman Senate Tom Rejmolds Robin Marlowe ifelissa Beavers Steve Sloan Cheryl Rousseau Becky Dockery Roy Van Oosteroom Lisa Schlitz Athena Fox Steve Woody Tammy Spake Kenneth Gordon Bert Plemmons Tresse Roper Jennifer Ward Aytekin Yildiz Graffiti I Continued from page one Classifieds About drugs there were a few interesting, if not intellectual, comments. "Smoke dope," and "acid + brains = tapioca pud ding •" Also "dope will get you through times of no...." (Multiple guess on this one, folks.) One student used drunk enness as an excuse for a poorly drawn picture. Hut that didn’t jibe with the well-read stu dent who responded, "usu ally , when an individual attains a state of drunk enness she is put into a state of high creativity. This 'art' reflected no such switch over to right brain orientation...." If one were to believe the writing on the bath room walls, one ml^t conclude that sex was the number one priority at UNCA. Much of this stuff, of course, isn't printable. So you'll have to go read it yourself. Sexual bias is a big subject. Things appear like, "I'm gay and I love it." One whole wall is dedi cated to the question of whether lesbian, homosex ual (I guess, male), or heterosexual relation ships achieve more com mitment . Finally, I found a statement that ended the subject by saying, "give it a rest. Who gives a flip if you are homo, hetero, bi or even tri- sexual." School seems to be very important to students. Some people aren't hap py here, such as the person who wrote, "hell, here we go again...months of tribulation." Referring to the roll of toilet paper someone put, "UliC-A diplomas." Another penperson para phrased Bob Dylan, "Oh mama! Can this really be the end, to be stuck in side of Asheville with the Memphis blues again?" Writing is a time hon ored form of communica tion. Some bathroom scribblers just want to get their message across to someone particular or to everyone. For example, one stall included a list of birth control methods and their advantages. Anotiier one had several religous messages and a fevj political ones, too, such as, "Think about nuclear war-face it, and work for peace." On a newly cleaned v/all the graffiti read, "Where did all the smut go?" A beginning French stu dent wrote, "l-fon amour est Robe'rt." "TViey wash the graffiti off the wall and don't fix the door—what a waste," said another. This is true. Many of the bathroom walls around campus are washed clean (while the stall doors are broken). I asked a woman in housekeeping about this. She told me that "graffi ti is a never ending battle." Still, to some people a pure white wall is an irristable temptation to express themselves. So we will probably continue to have plenty of between- class, off the stall, written entertainment at UNCA. rhilH Care: Anyone inter ested in seeing a child care center on campus, please contact Marthe Fletcher, SGA office, 258-6587.
