Thursday, March 28,1985/THE BLUE BANNER/7 Musicians honor UNCA's new Chancellor The Hclala Faally Band with the University Slnfo- nla will give a concert Saturday blending bluegrass and classical music in honor of UNCA's new chancellor Dr. David G. Brown in Lipinsky Auditorium at 8 p.m. Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring" will be among the works performed by the groups. In addition to "Ap palachian Spring," the group will blend its tradition al folk sounds with the classical sounds of the Uaiversity Sinfonia in renditions including "I'm Bound for Glory Land," "Silver Creek," "Troublesome Creek Suite," and "Fine Times/Big Hill." The second half of the concert will feature the HcLain Family Band in their normal program. "As we celebrate the installation of Chancellor Brown, it's appropriate that we honor our mountain heritage as well as UNCA's mission as a liberal arts university by bringing these two performing groups to gether," says Shirley Leckie, who chairs the DNCA in stallation planning committee. The six—member McLain Family Band hails from east ern Kentucky. The group often performs at symphony orchestra "pops" concerts as well as festivals, fairs, colleges and universities throughout the country. Tickets for the concert are $3 for the general public.
