Corner o m m e n t s "Do you think the current library hours are adequate for students?" / Milena Van Freshman Biology "Most of the time I think they’re open long enough. During vacations it’s hard because I’m a commuter and they close down the campus. That’s (the library) the only thing I’d like to see opened." John Munson Freshman Environmental Science "I think that on Friday evenings it should be opened later; otherwise the hours are pretty good. I also think it should be open Saturday evenings until 9 p.m. Otherwise I’m satisified." Interviews by Julie Ball Staff photos by Lynda Kroeger Stephanie White Junior Sociology "I don’t think the hours are long enough. You go there and as soon as you get started, they come on over the intercom telling you that you have 20 minutes to finish. I think half the people don’t even know they close at .9 p.m." Sharon Miller Senior Math "I think the hours are adequate. They stay open until 11 at night. I think they have trouble finding workers. We’re lucky to have them open as long as they are." SheHa Shuford Sophomore Computer Science "I definitely think they should be extended. I was real disq>pointed that they were not open more over the holidays. I don’t live on campus and it was a real inconvenience because I had a term paper due on Dec. 1." Louis Caliendo Sophomore Management "I feel the hours are good enough during the weekdays—they’re open late enough. They could be open a little later during the weekends." The 1986 state-wide hiring freeze continues to have a devestating effect on Ramsey Library’s level of staffing. In the interest of maintaining library service during the fall semester, accrued annual leave, basic bookstack management activities, revision of manuals and record and a multitude of other essential library functions have gone unattended. In order to address these deferred matters and prepare for the coming semester, the libraiy will be closed to the pubUc the week of Dec. 29, and open only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the week of Jan. 5. We regret any inconvenience this may cause students, faculty or staff. —Debbie Thomas, librarian I
