Our university dining services staff will collect all food for Caring Cans, a program of Sodexho Dining Services. Food will be distributed locally. The UNCA Bulldog Stompers clogging team will perform, local mountain dulcimer legend Don Pedi will play and UNCA Art major Andrew Kucera will demonstrate the traditional art of blacksmithing outside on Reed Plaza. Inside will be UNCA grad Jeff Hamilton showing how traditional pottery is handbuilt and there will be other natural materials handcrafts demonstrated and for sale. The student directors of the Drama Department will be presenting their one-act plays Thursday 12/6 and Friday 12/7 starting at 7pm in Carol Belk Theatre. Admission is free. And this year, for the first time, between each one-act there will be a light show with music designed by the student lighting designers! Come join the fun! The Miss Hendersonville Scholarship Pageant Committee is seeking contestants for the 2002 Miss Hendersonville! Pageant to be held January 26, 2002. Contestants must be single, never married and full-time students or residents of Buncombe, Henderson, Polk and Transylvania Counties. Contestants must also be between the ages of 17-24. Scholarship monies awarded through the pageant are paid DIRECTLY to the college or university where the student is enrolled. Miss Hendersonville 2002 will go to compete at the 2002 Miss North Carolina Pageant, which is part of the Miss America Organization. For information or an application, please call (828)749-1783.
