Locus hopes that by combin ing their strengths with NEM AC’s, they can develop better software for regulatory agen cies such as the EPA, business es who report to the EPA and the general public so anyone can learn more about the state of their air, water or soil. “We pride ourselves on bring ing the right people, technology and systems together to deliver the innovative, integrated soft ware and services our custom ers require,” said Todd Pierce, Locus’ director for GIS ser 3.14.2012 I The Blue Banner vices, who manages the rela tionship between the two orga nizations. Partnering with River side Technology, Inc., builds NEMAC’s capacity outside of Asheville. Riverside is head quartered in Ft. Collins, Colo., ,and looking to open up an of fice in Asheville. “When the American Meteo rological Society hosted a meet ing in Asheville last summer, NEMAC hosted an open house at our downtown engagement site in the Grove Arcade,” said Fox. “Riverside attended the open house, and we instantly saw that a partnership between the two groups made a lot of sense. We recently co-hosted a booth at the national AMS con ference that was held in New Orleans and we are jointly pur suing some opportunities that we encountered at the confer ence.” Riverside is an international science, engineering and IT consulting company. They are well respect ed not only here in the United States, but worldwide. We look forward to providing our exper tise that will benefit both of our enterprises.” Riverside employees agree that this partnership will ex pand each company’s reach and client base. “Working with NEMAC on these important capabilities will bring together highly- skilled individuals to drive new innovations and provide clients with unique solutions to address complex environmental issues,” said Larry Brazil, president and CEO of Riverside. The new partnerships are al ready at work. NEMAC and Riverside jointly submitted a proposal to NOAA’s Small Business Innovation Research Program earlier this month to further develop long-range three-month precipitation out looks. UNCA students will be able to access the Locus soft ware, both the main EIM and the cloud storage system, at NEMAC offices. Locus software is delivered through cloud computing so there is no hardware to procure, no large up-front license fee and no complex set-ups. Locus hopes students will find the software useful for their research and are excitedly anticipating feedback on their software. What is Lynda.com?
