We publish each Tuesday except during summer sessions, finals week and holiday breaks. Our office is located in Karpen Half 019. MARCH FOR OUR LIVES This country will never make any progress in the gun control debate if our legislators continue to pri oritize dollars over Ameri can lives. Public schools play an integral part in giving young people the tools they need to be successful and make educated deci sions regarding their lives and futures. Clearly, gun violence presents a huge problem if students cannot even go to school without the fear of being shot in their seats. Though our country possesses a blood-speck led history of school shootings, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting seems to be the last straw for young people tired of wondering if this day in class will be their last. The editorial staff of The Blue Banner admires the strength and passion of these teenagers who cre ated March For Our Lives and stands behind their mission. Guns have no place in the classroom and the an swer does not lie in equip ping teachers or school security guards with these weapons either. We cannot let our soci ety fall even further into a dystopian reality, where guns are countered with more guns and fears are merely heard but never answered, validated or as suaged. Now is as good a time as any to have our voices heard by the politicians supposed to represent us. We will continue to follow the lead of these courageous young peo ple and continue chanting “Enough is enough.” America March participant holds a sign protesting recent school shooting and advocating gun control.
