March 18, 1949 THE CLARION PAGE THREE Girls’ Intramural Tournament Nears End; 3 Games Remain Under the direction of Miss Mor gan, the girls physical education program has been progressing at a hot pace for the past several weeks. The first of the games played three weeks ago was a battle be tween the college girjs and the Brevard high school lassies. High scorer for the canipus girls was , Bev. Schaede, who hit the basket for 9 points. She was closely fol lowed by Betty Lou Starnes and Betty Anders who bucketed 8 points each, but these were not enough to merit a win for the col lege team; the final score was 42-33. Edna Masters won the high scoring laurels for the winners SMITH and GRAY BARBER SHOP Haircuts — Shaves — Shine and Shower with a total of 19 points, follow ed by Doris Ferguson with 12. The next Saturday night the two teams met again; this time the sit' uation was reversed, and the col lege team came out on the winning end of a 42-23 score, with Margaret Cogbum sinking 13 points. The high school girls were led by Fer guson, who hit the net for 12 points. During the .intra-class play, sever al of the games have been forfeited due to the lack of players. The first of this series was a scheduled game between the .teams captained by Higgins and Hamrick, the lat ter team forfeiting the game. After this a game was played between Billings’ team and Elmore’s girls. The game ended in a 33-33 dead lock, with Euva Sentelle making 115 points for Billings and Elmore ^ racking up 12 for her team. The , tie was to have been played off on I March'8, but Elmore’s team was I short of players, and Billings won I by a 2-0 forfeit. On the same night, I Ray’s team forfeited to Mann’s !lassies. From all ■ appearances, Maxine and Buddy are becoming a steady twosome—not to mention Lena and Bob, who can be seen together most anytime. Asheville can be lots of fun over v/eek ends, can’t it, Pat?’Specially if that certain guy comes over. And if you don’t believe it can be fun, just ask Jane and Sissy!! Doris sho’ is getting around late ly—Riggins in the afternoon and Bonner York at night. Well, more power to you, but watch that front porch!!! What is it that has been going on between Jewel and Frank for the last few weeks. Congratulations to the “Show Boat” cast. It was a swell perform ance—enjoyed by all. Say, Audrey, have you heard that song, “Don’t Watch That Stranger, But Keep Your Eyes on Your Best Friend”? Colie really looked surprised at his birthday party Friday night. How old were you. Colie, sixteen or seventeen? Watch out, James. With that new car you’ll have all the girls chas ing you. From here, it looks like Barbara Henderson has been eyeing a cer tain red-head from South Carolina.
