Season; Clubs Plan Intramurals
BY MARY GRACE NANCE
The 1950 intramural program
for girls got off to a flying start
Tuesday, November 7, in the col

and electing a team captain when
the whistle blew for the first
game of the season. Teams rep

Mnemosynean sophomores, and
Mnemosynean freshmen.
Nancy Medford was elected to
lead the Euterpean freshmen;
Marty Gibbs was captain for the
older sisters, the Euterpean sopho
mores; Pat Brown ably captained
her Mnemosynean sophomores;
and Kathie Lassiter was elected by
Mnemosynean freshmen to direct
that team.
Two games were played each
night for three nights, thereby al
lowing each team to play the other
two teams one time. At the con

Friday, November 10, the standings
of the teams were:

The Mnemosynean society fresh

will receive three points.
At the conclusion of the intra

the intramural program, has con
gratulated the Mnemosynean fresh

Andrews Expects
Good B. B. Team
With six lettermen returning,
the Brevard College quintet is
looking forward to a thumbs-up sea
son. In the opinion of Coach Bob
Andrews, the squad has an excel
lent chance of bettering its last
year’s conference record, seven
wins and six losses.
A partial schedule of 14 games
already has been mapped out. Con
testants will include Gardner Webb,
Mars Hill, Spartanburg Junior col
lege, Asheville-Biltmore, Lees Mc
Rae, Youngharris Junior college
and Blanton’s Business college.
Practice will begin on Monday,
November 27, and the team will
play North Greenville on Decem
ber 12.
Coach Andrews has requested
that all boys who are interested
in playing basketball and who will
enroll for the spring semester, re
port for the first practice.
'•We recognize that in a junior
college of Brevards’ size varsity
sports teams must be made up of
freshmen and half of sophomores.
All boys with keen eyes and good
shooting arms are invited to try
out for the team,” Coach Andrews
announced.
