DECEMBER 9, 1950 CLARION PAGE SEVEN The pair of local boys above who drive school busses for local public schools are Sid Wilson and Bob McGuire. Absent from the picture, Albert Bishop is also a local bus driver. Around The Campus (Continued From Page Two) Joyce Brand hasn’t broken her leg from running down those steps at break-neck speed to answer those calls from Chicago. There seem to be a number of calls which come from Clemson, too. These bring another second-floor resident down the hall, charging for the office. Perhaps these calls have a little something to do with the reason Betty Jean Evans can hardly wait for that wonderful trip to Miami, Florida, to see the Clemson Tigers play in the Orange Bowl! Luck, girl! The Glee club has its share of the couples on the campus; there’s no doubt about it. Take for in stance Natalie and Archie, and Hope and Jack. There’s a cute quartette—you’ve got a soprano, bass, alto, and tenor. They seem to make perfect harmony in things other than songs, too. Double-dating is quite popular among the students, although they don’t have to decide whose car they’ll go in. It’s just a matter of who walks in front up the hill. Ann Lewis, Fletch Martin, Dot Dellinger, and Bruce Rowe are a regular four-some on movie night now. College life broadens the heart as well as the mind. For instance, Shug Canter took Norma Jean Williams home over the Thanks- i giving holidays, and he knew that he wasn’t making that trip just to get some of mother’s good cooking; although we grant you, that’s not a bad idea now that we’ve mentioned it. Just goes to show you that chivalry isn’t dead! The steadiest—of—the—steadies award can be divided into three parts and presented to Mary Grace Nance and Willard Buffkin, Gloria Starnes and David Price, Mart Gibbs and Chester Baker. Don’t they ever have just one little dis agreement? Must not, they always seem to be peace-loving. A very merry Christmas and happy holiday to each of you! They belong to Sid Wilson, Bob McGuire and Albert Bishop. Now we’ll take part of that back, they don’t exactly belong to them, but the boys do drive them. These three day students are bus drivers for Brevard high school. Albert lives at Cedar Mountain and brings in a load of students on his way to college. Bob and Sid both live in the lower end of the county and bring students from that section. These part-time jobs occupy only part of their time, for they’re all studying hard here at college. Sid, who’s nicknamed ‘‘Bo-Bo,” received his diploma at Brevard high school last spring. He took an active part in many school ac tivities but was most outstanding in F.F.A. work. “Bo-Bo” played only one year of varsity ball dur- uig high school, but his perfor mance was good enough to enable him to make the team here at col lege. He was a student bus driver at high school for four years, and did not give up the job this year. He’s combining this with his school work. Sid’s part-time job at the Chicken Kitchen takes much of his time, too. Somehow or another, though, he manages to keep his iiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiiiMiiitiitiiiiiiMiiiiiiiiiitiiiiitiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Sid is taking a general education course and plans to major in agriculture at N. C. State. Bob was right along with Sid in that group of students who re ceived diplomas at B.H.S. last spring. Here’s another agricul ture major who has hopes of trans ferring to State. He took an ac tive part in F.F.A. work in high school and received many honors from the number of annual con tests held in the county. Bob played two years of high school football and then stepped into the limelight here at the college last fall. Albert graduated from high school in 1948 and then attended Clemson college for two years. He transferred here at the beginning of the fall semester and is con tinuing in a liberal arts course.
