MUNSEY MILLAWAY Lyceum Program Dean Speaks (Continued From Page One) Thomas Hood: My temples throb, my pulses bo!l, I’m sick of song and ode, and ballad. So Thyrsis, take the midnight oil And pour it on a lobster salad. As an illustration on the value of patience he used this verse. Heaven is not reached in a single bound; But we build the ladder by which we rise From the lowly earth to the vault ed skies And we mount to its summit round by round. The Dean ended with these beau tiful verses by George Eliot: O may I join the choir invisible Of those immortal dead who live again In lives made better by their pres ence: Live in pulses stirred to generosity, In deeds of daring rectitude, in scorn For miserable aims that end with self, In thoughts sublime that pierce the night like stars. And with their mild persistence urge man’s search To vaster issues. (Continued From Page One) duced by his parents in 1934.
