Cross Country Team
Runs First Perfect Score
By JOHNNY CANNON
Congratulations to the soccer team. With some
great playing and a lot of team spirit, you have come
a long way since the beginning of the season.
At the homecoming game our soccer team played
very Vv^ell also, as they tied Furman by a score of 3-3.
We are very proud of our soccer team this year.
The cross-country team has been successful in two
of the last three meets. We were defeated by a fine
Furman team. Our boys came back to defeat Ashe-
ville-Biltmore taking the first eight places. In the
most recent meet Brevard smothered the Lees-McRae
team. The cross-country team has begun to show re
sults of the many hard hours of practice.
The intramurals have begun in high spirits.
Green’s 3rd floor “Tarheels” have been declared the
new fall exhibition champions. Some of the recent
scores are these:
Tarheels—59
Town Housers—20
Cellar Dwellers—21
Rebel Rousers—18

Ties with Furman
Tomorrow afternoon, Novem
ber 2, the team travels to Fur
man. Brevard tied the Purple
Paladins 3-3 on October 19, and
in the eyes of the team and
students this was a victory.
After five unsuccessful at
tempts to score, Furman’s Dun
can Nesbitt slipped the ball past
Joe Humphries giving the Pala
dins a 1-0 lead starting the sec
ond period.
Furman quickly jumped out
in front by two, when Mac Wal-
son scored early in the second
quarter. Brevard’s Bo Tucker
followed with a goal for the Tor
nadoes to cut the margin to 21.
Late in the period George
Miller rammed a shot into the
net from 20 yards out, knotting
the score at two goals each. Be-J
fore the crowd had settled back
into their seats, Brian Van Nos
trand scored for Furman, giv
ing the Paladins a 3-2 half time
lead.
Starting the last half, Bievaril
came back to tie the score with
Ernie Jones getting the point.
With only a few seconds left in
the contest, Brevard brought the
homecoming crowd to its feet
with a last-ditch-rally which fail
ed. Thus, the Tornadoes had
to settle for a tie.

of two of their outstanding play

Ben Lippen 7-2 on Oct. 25. Bre

tober 28, for their second
straight win. Brevard captured
second, fourth, seventh, and
tenth places. Reliable Max Bar
